Hot my motor down to a short block... it’s clearly been ran, but I don’t believe for long. Builders reused the old timing set, or if they didn’t then the chain stretched right quick. Motor has been bored .030 over making it a 466.

Found very mild surface rust on bottom of Cylinders 1-3, it’s below the ring seats so not really concerned.

Also ordered Rough Country 4” lift with new rear springs, will be ordering poly radius arm bushings, track bar bushings & sway bar bushings, plus Skyjacker extended swaybar links. Then soon a 1-ton GM steering setup...

Haha! GM tierods are cheap & readily available. I put them on almost all my builds or any steering upgrades I do for people.

Lift also showed up today... well most of it... still waiting on 1 leaf spring & 1 shock

Dropped the block off today at Terry Walter's Precision Engines, They'll be running it through the vat,  checking each cylinder w/ Bore guage, installing my new cam bearings, checking crank align-bore, and potentially a quick hone-job in each cylinder.

Meanwhile, I've got my new Edelbrock  timing set on order, cam/lifters and pushrods. Hoping as long as everything checks out OK w/ the block, to have it back within a week or two, and then begin reassembly.

Spoke to the machine shop today... Bores were too tight & inconsistent ranging from .0280-0285” over instead of the 030 it should be. Dropped off my pistons so they can mic them then hone cylinders to spec. Will then get new rings & finally start assembly soon

Rolled in Thursday evening, really got started today, plan to wrap up tomorrow.

Rear was simplest place to start as less parts to remove...

I was pleasantly surprised at how easily everything came loose. Had rear apart and assembled (minus shocks) within 1 1/2hrs.

The front brought on some hassle. All 4 lower spring retaining bolts broke off with mild torque applied. We had to head up the driver’s radius arm to get it’s 4 bolts loose & I suspect passenger side will be the same.

More pictures & updates to come so stay tuned!!

Today was less productive... the front has been fighting with the radius arms.

Shenandoah Machine did my radius arms, drilled & tapped up a size to 1/2x13.

Install went along smooth from here minus the fact the bushing sleeve in the upper trackbar mount was siezed to the bolt. Some cutting & welding required!

Finally got around to scrubbing out & pressure washing the block. Started assembly with my new Edelbrock Cam, Clevite77 bearings & reinstalled the crank.

Need to torque the main caps. Then check ring gaps, install rings, pistons with new clevite bearings... and so on.
